transversus nuchae muscle

(Science: anatomy) An occasional muscle passing between the tendons of the trapezius and sternocleidomastoid, possibly a fasciculus of the posterior auricular muscle.

Synonym: musculus transversus nuchae, transverse muscle of nape.
