Tinea amiantacea

An inflammatory condition of the scalp in which heavy scales extend onto the hairs and bind the proximal portions together; it is not caused by a fungus. Often the disease can cause hairloss in the region of the scales. Although unusual to see this day in age, it is typically very easy to treat.

Synonym: pityriasis amiantacea.
