A condition in which there is a high platelet count in the blood.


Supplement

Increase in platelet levels may be seen in individuals with myeloproliferative disease, hemorrhage, iron deficiency, and hyposplenism.


Word origin: thrombocyte + Greek -osis (an increase, a condition).
