... dictionary include dopamine and histamine, in both of which, amino group is attached to a carbohydrate chain, not to the ring. Yes, in thiamin, NH2 is attached directly to the ring.

Is thiamin (thiamine) amine or not?

I've read (exactly here ) that the name thiamine was changed to thiamin "after it was found it's not an amine." Thiamin does have a NH2 group, so why wouldn't it be amine? ChemSpider
