Testis-determining factor



The protein produced from the testis-determining factor gene, and triggers the development of embryo into becoming a male.


The presence of TDF in humans (and other species) leads to the development of male sex organs whereas the lack of these proteins results in embryo developing as physically female.

Abbreviation: TDF

Synonym: SRY protein
