Dictionary » T » Termination codon Termination codontermination codon (Science: molecular biology) The three codons, UAA known as ochre, UAG as amber and UGA as opal, that do not code for an amino acid but act as signals for the termination of protein synthesis. They are not represented by any tRNA and termination is catalysed by protein release factors. There are two release factors in e. Coli, RF1 recognises UAA and UAG, RF2 recognises UAA and UGA. Eukaryotes have a single gTP requiring factor, eRF. See: ochre suppressor, amber suppressor. ![]()

Results from our forumAre STOP codons involved in both TRANSCRIPTION & TRANSLATION1)Ok, I am really confused about this. Is a "stop codon" used in both transcription and translation. I have two textbooks one says: "Three of these 64 codons are stop codons that specify the termination of a polypeptide; all the rest code for amino acids" From this ...

Re: Determining mRNA sequencesWell the article is about nonsense mediated decay and how the pre-termination codon recognition is mediated by a competition between 3' UTR associated factors that stimulate ...

Frameshift Question... translation. I know that an deletion can result in a premature stop codon, but shouldn't the termination area of the template DNA still be largely unaffected? Can anybody explain?

Splice modification in mouse brains... mouse is a model of Duchenne muscular dystrophy, carrying a premature termination codon in exon 23 of dystrophin. Morpholino oligos targeting dystrophin exon 23 were delivered ...
