Any plant of the genus helianthus; so called probably from the form and colour of its flower, which is large disk with yellow rays. The commonly cultivated sunflower is Helianthus annuus, a native of America.

Whats the meaning of morphology of plants?

... is the external from and appearance of a plant. Its the morphology that helps us distinguish plants. Rose has a different morphology than a sunflower plant and so on.
