Mitochondrial Research

I have not done any mitochondrial studies 1. purify the mitochondria from normal cells check if ETC is going on well by adding succinate 2. divide in to three groups 3. group 1 normal ETC, 2 standard modifier 3 your compound 4. compare the results

Please help!

1. Sorry, I intended to type Oxaloacetate, not "Ox.-Aloacetate". 2. Sorry, I mistyped that, obviously succinic acid is C4H6O4. 3. Yes, succinate does pass electrons to Coenzyme Q (Q to QH2) but I thought you were referring to it entering "a stage" of oxidative phosphorylation, ...

Please help!

1) it's difference between Ox.-Aloacetate and oxaloacetate 2) no, succinate is not C4O4, you're forgetting hydrogens  3) succinate doesn't enter the ETC. It just passes electrons to coenzyme Q, but otherwise is involved in TCA cycle, not in ETC

Re: TCA inhibitor

sorry, but I have no idea, what are you saying, billyfisher100. hannahzarzar: the reason is because succinate provides electrons into ETC from another "branch" of ETC than pyruvate or malate. The complexes I and II are not in a row, but rather different entering ...
