The fruit got its name from its distinctive star shape when cut transversely. The fruit is rich in antioxidants and Vitamin C that it is described as a super fruit for its many health benefits when consumed. However, the fruit is also found to contain oxalic acid, which can cause hiccups, vomiting, and nausea in individuals suffering from kidney failure.
