Consisting of, containing, or covered with, froth, scum, or foam; frothy; foamy. The spumous and florid state of the blood. (Arbuthnot) The spumy waves proclaim the watery war. (Dryden)

Origin: L. Spumosus, spuma foam: cf. F. Spumeux.
