Sorption detoxification

sorption detoxification

elimination of toxic or biologically active substances from body fluids by interaction with a sorbent medium. The types of media include absorbents, adsorbents, ion-exchange materials, and complexing agents. Detoxification can be extracorporeal (haemodialysis, haemofiltration, haemoperfusion, plasmapheresis), or occur inside the body (enterosorption, peritoneal dialysis).
