sex-linked

(Science: genetics) A genetic disorder where the genetic defect is linked to one of the chromosomes that determines sex (x or y). This is usually due to a gene on the unpaired portion of the x chromosome. Recessive X linked alleles are fully expressed in the heterogametic sex because they can have only one copy of the gene. Thus X linked mutant disorders are more common in human males than in females.

An example is haemophilia, which is autosomal recessive and linked to the x chromosome, so only males (xY) actually manifest the disease.

Male eggs and female sperm. Please help!

Same sex reproduction in humans? (are you kidding me here?) As I remember, sperm cells may exist as androsperms or male-bearing sex chromosomes, and the gynesperms bearing the female sex chromosomes. But of course, with the ...

Re: Urine infections

... infections than men. This is probably because women have shorter urethras, so it is easier for the germs to move up to their bladders. Having sex can make it easier for germs to get into your urethra. You may be more likely to get an infection if you do not drink enough fluids, you have diabetes, ...
