sesquisulphide

(Science: chemistry) A sulphide, analogous to a sesquioxide, containing three atoms of sulphur to two of the other ingredient; formerly called also sesquisulphuret; as, orpiment, As2S3 is arsenic sesquisulphide.

Origin: Sesqui- _ sulphide.
