Origin: L scalpellum, dim. Of scalprum a knife, akin to scalpere to cut, carve, scrape: cf. F. Scalpel.

adaption of cell extraction technique

I don't know, what does it look like, but what about to take them off with some knife or scalpel and put them immediately into liquid nitrogen?
