1. (Science: chemical) realgar; red sulphide of arsenic.

2. (Science: botany) A white or yellow resin obtained from a barbary tree (Callitris quadrivalvis or thuya articulata), and pulverized for pounce; probably so called from a resemblance to the mineral.
