If invasive they can cause enteric fevers (e.g. Typhoid, caused by salmonella typhi), food poisoning (usually salmonella typhimurium or Salmonella enteridis, the latter notorious for contamination of poultry) and occasionally septicaemia in nonintestinal tissues. ![]()

Results from our forumNeeding help identifying uknowns for micro lab... I put it, was circular. 7B was white and fanned out all around the streak kind of like clouds, if that makes any sense. I kind of think 7A is salmonella 7B has me stumped!!!

Food-borne illness and invasive organismsIt depends - the effective definition isn't a clear-cut line. You can pick up organisms, like Salmonella , and have it called food poisoning or a food-borne illness. If you pick up some sort of toxin, it's likely to be called poisoning.

Re: Rapid testing techniques - food... are taken in a quanity that would give us a good represenitation of the entire lot of product. Technology Project concerning salmonella and other bacteria... dramatically to a number of agents, I am not sure if UV are among them (although I suppose they are), and I am not sure how much E. coli and Salmonella biofilm are on the eggs, but that should nevertheless be considered, if you really want efficient sterilization.
