... heat escapes. I was trying to think of any extant species that have large neural arches the other day. I couldn't come up with anything other than sailfish & I have no idea what they use theirs for.

... Mammal (land) Cheetahs can run up to 70 miles per hour. Fastest Mammal (water) Dall porpoises can swim up to 35 miles per hour. Fastest Fish Sailfish can swim up to 68 miles per hour.

I was wondering: what makes certain animals, such as the cheetah or sailfish, so fast? Is it simply their muscle / bone makeup, or is there another contributing factor? :?: :roll:
