sagapenum

(Science: medicine) A fetid gum resin obtained from a species of ferula. It has been used in hysteria, etc, but is now seldom met with.

Origin: L. Sagapenon, sacopenium, Gr., cf. F. Sagapin, gomme sagapin, sagapenum, Ar. Sikbinaj, Per. Sakbinah, sikbinah.
