Dictionary » R » Roxarsone RoxarsoneDefinition noun An organo-arsenic compound formerly used as animal-feed additive for its anticoccidial action and growth enhancing effect in poultry and swine
The use of Roxarsone as feed additive is discontinued because the livers of chicken fed with it had increased (although very low) levels of arsenic. This finding incited concerns over the health of consumers as it may implicate arsenic contamination of the food chain.
