A bacterial colony with a granular, flattened surface; this type of colony is usually associated with loss of virulence with respect to that of smooth colony's.

You are correct some strains of E. coli are smooth, circular and raised. (Some E.coli is iregular and rough). White and opaque also sound right but I can't be 100% positive. Do you retain your isolate on a slant or in the freezer? An new plate would grow colonies in 24 hours. ...
