Romana's sign

(Science: clinical sign) Marked oedema of one or both eyelids, usually a unilateral palpebral oedema, thought to be a sensitization response to the bite of a triatomine bug infected with trypanosoma cruzi, and a strong suggestion of acute chagas' disease.
