retrogasserian neurotomy --> trigeminal rhizotomy

(Science: procedure) division or section of a sensory root of the fifth cranial nerve, accomplished through a subtemporal (frazier-Spiller operation), suboccipital (dandy operation), or transtentorial approach.

Synonym: retrogasserian neurectomy, retrogasserian neurotomy.
