(1) The fascia separating the vagina and the rectum.

(2) The endopelvic fascia supporting the posterior wall of vagina and keeping the rectum to its position.

In human anatomy, this membranous structure is the female counterpart of the rectoprostatic fascia in the male. Incision to this fascial plane provides access to the pelvis.
