(Science: chemistry) Pertaining to, or designating, an acid of the acrylic acid series, metameric with crotonic acid, and obtained as a colourless liquid; so called from having four carbon atoms in the molecule.

Synonym: isocrotonic acid.

Origin: Quartene _ -yl _ -ic.
