Primary lymphoid organ



The bodily organ that gives rise to cells of the reticuloendothelial system.


Example of primary lymphoid organ is bone marrow. The thymus may also be considered a primary lymphoid organ as it serves as the site for T cell maturation.

Synonym: central lymphoid organ
