precipitated sulfur

sublimed sulfur boiled with lime water, the lime being removed from the precipitate by washing with diluted hydrochloric acid; used in preparing sulfur ointment and in the treatment of various skin disorders.

Synonym: lac sulfuris, milk of sulfur.
