Dictionary » P » Potts fracture Potts fracturePott's fracture noun Originally, a Pott’s fracture refers to the dislocation of the ankle joint with fracture at the lower part of the fibula and malleolus of the tibia, resulting in the foot to turn out. This injury was named after the English physician Percivall Pott who experienced the injury in 1765 and later described his clinical findings in a paper published in 1769. Later, Pott’s fracture became a loose term (although inaccurate) for any fracture or fracture-dislocation around the ankle. Also known as Pott’s syndrome I, Dupuytren fracture ![]()
