posterior tibiofibular ligament

(Science: anatomy) The fibrous band that horizontally crosses the posterior aspect of the tibiofibular syndesmosis, contributing the posterior wall of the socket which receives the trochlea of the talus.

Synonym: ligamentum tibiofibulare posterius.
