(Science: zoology) An opossum. To play possum, To act possum, to feign ignorance, indifference or inattention, with the intent to deceive; to dissemble; in allusion to the habit of the opossum, which feigns death when attacked or alarmed.

Origin: Shortened from opossum.

It is tough to tell in this picture - but for sure it isn't a possum. I can tell you that it is a primate. I don't think however it is a lemur (but it is hard to tell in this picture). Look at the nose, lemurs usually have whiskers and a dog like nose, ...
