(Science: botany) A genus of polypetalous plants; also, any plant of the genus.

Portulaca oleracea is the common purslane. P. Grandiflora is a south American herb, widely cultivated for its showy crimson, scarlet, yellow, or white, ephemeral blossoms.

Re: mystery plant in CT

it seems to be a Portulaca, or moss rose. I like the idea it just floated down on my deck and sprouted. I hope I can get some seeds from it for next year.

I do not recognize it. Time for you to hit the books :lol: (edit) but it is dark, its not portulaca is it?
