In contrary you need to increase the open penalty and decrease the extension penalty, so that it will favour long uninterupted gaps instead of many small gaps.

... an eye and a lung and an antenna and an anus, just like that? My spider sense is tingling... are you sure this is not just another ID/creationist plot? Well, at least the time frame suggested is more than six thousand years. Other than that this makes little sense. I haven't learned about origin ...

You should measure from the very top of the gel. Did you plot it against log of MW?

Log paper

... relationship between the molecular weight of the histons and their travel distance from the SDS-Page. I am quite confused about it. Do I have to plot on the log paper the log of kD of the proteins or I have to plot them without extracting the log?
