Plants

Plants

multicellular, eukaryotic life forms of the kingdom plantae. They are characterised by a mainly photosynthetic mode of nutrition; essentially unlimited growth at localised regions of cell divisions (meristems); cellulose within cells providing rigidity; the absence of organs of locomotion; absence of nervous and sensory systems; and an alternation of haploid and diploid generations. These organisms contain cell walls; plasmodesmata which are required for intercellular activity; plastids with double membranes; and contain photosynthetic pigments thus they are capable of photosynthesis, and are therefore autotrophic in nature.
