A rod or fibrous cone located between the acrosome and the anterior pole of the nucleus in the spermatozoa of toads and birds; no corresponding structure evident in the subacrosomal space of mammalian spermatozoa.

Origin: L. Per-foro, pp. -foratum, to bore, _ -orium, instrumental suffix
