Peptide bond

peptide bond

The amide linkage between the carboxyl group of one amino acid and the amino group of another. The linkage does not allow free rotation and can occur in cis or trans configuration, the latter the most common in natural peptides, except for links to the amino group of proline, which are always cis. The primary linkage of all protein structures; the chemical bond between the carboxyl groups and amino groups that unites a peptide. The bond that connects [[peptides together which can then form a [[polypeptide chain. The bond consists of one carbon and one nitrogen bond.

Re: Hydrolyzing of disaccharides and amino acids

basically water is added to break the bonds in both molecules. So for Carbs water would break the glycosidic bond and in Proteins water would break the peptide bonds.
