Dictionary » P » Partial pressure Partial pressurepartial pressure The pressure exerted by a single component of a mixture of gases, commonly expressed in mm hg or torr; for a gas dissolved in a liquid, the partial pressure is that of a gas that would be in equilibrium with the dissolved gas. Formerly, symbolised by p, followed by the chemical symbol in capital letters (e.g., pCO2, pO2); now, in respiratory physiology, P, followed by subscripts denoting location and/or chemical species (e.g., PCO2, PO2, PaCO2). ![]()

Results from our forumPaCO2 levels dnt rise as fast as PaO2 levels fall...... equals co2 generated you'd expect same amounts in blood, however since partial pressure is only a measurement of dissolved gas in plasma, you can use the other (HCO3-) transport ...

PaCO2 levels dnt rise as fast as PaO2 levels fall...... of a greater diffusibility of CO2 . Does it have to do w/ the different partial pressure gradients of the two gases when loading/unloading at the tissues? I've got myself ...

Why CO2 levels don't rise as fast as 02 levels fall...... levels fall in arterial blood?? Does it have to do with differences in partial pressure gradients for the two gases? Or what about the weak and reversible bond between O2 ...
