(Science: botany) A plant (ricinus communis) with ornamental peltate and palmately cleft foliage, growing as a woody perennial in the tropics, and cultivated as an herbaceous annual in temperate regions.

Synonym: castor-oil plant. [Sometimes corrupted into palmcrist.
