Ovarian follicle



The fundamental female reproductive unit composed of an oocyte, granulosa cells, and theca layers found inside the ovary.


The oocyte inside the follicle would mature into an ovum or egg cell, which is then released from the ovary into the fallopian tube during ovulation.
