An infection caused by the Candida species in the oral cavity or mouth.

Supplement

Candida species infect the mucous membranes of the mouth especially the immunocompromised individuals, diabetics, infants, and smokers.

Note: Although some references consider candidosis as the more correct technical name for this condition other references use the term candidiasis synonymously with candidosis.
