(Science: neurology) An involuntary, rapid, rhythmic movement of the eyeball, which may be horizontal, vertical, rotatory or mixed, i.e., of two varieties.

Origin: Gr. Nystagmos = drowsiness, from nystazein = to nod

Nystagmus

Nystagmus is an involuntary eye movement. I just want to know if it happens while you sleep, if it has any known biological purpose, or anything else you might know about it. Thanks.
