noun, plural: nonessential nutrients

A nutrient in which an organism is capable of producing it in sufficient amount

Nutrients may either be essential or nonessential, depending on where they are sourced. The term nonessential does not mean the nutrient is not as essential as other nutrients. It only means it is not required in the diet since it can be produced within the organism.
