(Science: zoology) Any one of numerous moths of the family Noctuidae, or Noctuaelitae, as the cutworm moths, and armyworm moths; so called because they fly at night.

Of or pertaining to the noctuids, or family Noctuidae.

Origin: From L. Nox, noctis, night.
