we know that nitrogenous bases are four ( adnine- thyamine-cytosin-guanine) each three of them translate to the 21th amino acids and the 4 N-bases power 3 (the codon of each amino acid) equal 64 not 21 so my question is what is ...

A question about protein.....

... help me??thx~~ When Protein react with strong acid, it will release nitrogen gas, right?? but why will it release nitrogen gas, but no other nitrogenous compound like ammonia?? thx~~

Good question, I was once puzzled by it too. I always thought DNA contained nitrogenous bases, which are obviously basic. But why are they acidic? I think the reason is in the phosphate groups. The ATGCs are basic, the (deoxy)ribose are sugers, hence neutral. ...
