Definition

The excretion of excess sodium in the urine via kidneys, as caused by the action of natriuretic peptides that enhance sodium excretion, and binding forces that exerted by sodium regulate water movements.

Natriuresis may occur in the following conditions:

  • Bartter syndrome
  • Medullary cystic disease
  • certain renal diseases
