Nasogastric intubation



The procedure of inserting the nasogastric tube through the nose, past the throat, and down to the stomach.


This procedure is done usually for nasogastric aspiration of gastric contents.

Word origin: nasogastric: from the combination of naso- (nasal) + -gastric (stomach) + intubation
