Naked virus


noun, plural: naked viruses

A virus lacking the viral envelope


Naked viruses pertain to those that only have nucleocapsid, which is a protein capsid that covers the genome of the virus. Some of the naked viruses are parvoviruses, papovaviruses, adenoviruses, and reoviruses. These viruses use their nucleocapsid to enter cells.

Also called:

  • non-enveloped virus
  • non-encapsulated virus

It's usually some bacterial polymerase. May be, but also naked DNA is something bad (usually naked DNA with free ends comes from virus or pathogenic bacteria;), so the cell controls it. I don't get much the question. Is it related ...
