Mucoid degeneration



A degenerative process in which the connective tissues are replaced by a semisolid, mucus-like substance.


For instance, mucoid degeneration of the anterior cruciate ligament, a clinical condition afflicting some active middle-aged people.

Synonym: myxomatous degeneration, mucoid degeneration.
