Dictionary » M » Microspore MicrosporeDefinition noun, plural: microspores (botany) The smaller meiospore produced in heterosporous plants, and develops into a male gametophyte.
The microspores are haploid spores produced by a plant sporophyte. In seed plants, it corresponds to the developing pollen grain at the uninucleate stage.

Homosporous and Heterosporous plants.....help! + generationsThank you very much. The lecturer today actually mentioned today that when the pollen grain has only 1 nucleus, it is a microspore, but when this nucleus seperates into the tube nucleus and male generative nucleus, it is the microgametophyte.
