... second so I was wondering if an overproduction of reactive chemicals could produce a lot of heat and cause a persons surface to catch fire, or a metabolic runaway event of some kind . Yes, there are complex reactions but none that would result in something like this. Please explain why.

... correctly, primary sugars are metabolised primarily, i.e. with no induction but also their metabolism is not inhibited. On the other hand the metabolic enzymes of secondory sugars must be induced first.
