menstruation

(Science: physiology) The cyclic, physiologic discharge through the vagina of blood and mucosal tissues from the nonpregnant uterus, it is under hormonal control and normally recurs, usually at approximately four week intervals, in the absence of pregnancy during the reproductive period (puberty through menopause) of the female of the human and a few species of primates. It is the culmination of the menstrual cycle. The monthly discharge of blood from the uterus of nonpregnant women from puberty to menopause; the women were sickly and subject to excessive menstruation; a woman does not take the gout unless her menses be stopped.See [[Menstrual Cycle.
