Marasmus

(Science: medicine) a wasting of flesh without fever or apparent disease; a kind of consumption; atrophy; phthisis. Pining atrophy, marasmus, and wide-wasting pestilence. (Milton) marasmus senilis [L], progressive atrophy of the aged.
